If the world didn’t know who Tyson Fury was before 2018, it sure took notice once his first bout with Deontay Wilder took place in Los Angeles. Not long after their controversial draw, with many considering Fury to have been the winner, Fury would go on to lay a beating on Wilder in their explosive rematch where he stripped him of the WBC world title. Fury now lies in wait for Anthony Joshua, the British champion who holds the rest of the belt. With any good fortune, they’ll meet before the year is out and one man will leave the ring as the heavyweight unifier.

The documentary Tyson Fury Road To Redemption gives Fury a chance to talk about his depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, and mental health issues of which he endured following his break from boxing

Boxing fanatics and even casual viewers ought not to be a stranger of Fury by now, but Fury’s journey as a person is one that still evades even the most passionate fans. In the lead up to Fury’s first match with Wilder, BT Sport’s No Filter Boxing brought Tyson Fury Road To Redemption to the screen so that fans could get a closer look at the real Tyson Fury. Fury’s story is actually a rough one. The documentary gives Fury a chance to talk about his depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, and mental health issues of which he endured following his break from boxing after becoming world champion the first time. Fury lets everything out in this special that served as an effective promotional tool for his return to the ring.

The editing team were a critical component in making Fury’s documentary the spectacle that it is. They packed the special full of recent interviews, past press conferences, training footage of Fury and his prior/upcoming opponents, and older footage from the earlier moments of his career before his fall from grace. The narrative’s focus is on Fury’s comeback, much of it involving his training with Ben Davison. With Davison’s help, Fury was able to cut more than one hundred forty pounds, initially ballooning up to about four hundred pounds. The production team had access to a sizeable amount of training footage to illustrate just how bad his physical health was, showing bit by bit his progress and eventual success. Tyson Fury is undoubtedly the star of the special, and he doesn’t hold back in showing fans his full personality. Fury also shows himself vulnerable, discussing the plight of his mental issues with real courage. His willingness to open up shows a level of confidence that most grown men of today severely lack. He may very well be a boxing champion, but his documentary affords him the opportunity to inspire others and potentially even save lives.

This impressive tale shows what can be accomplished when someone rediscovers their purpose in life. Fury is back, better than ever, and though the future is uncertain, more will come to light in the coming months about what his next move is. This special is available on YouTube. Witness the story of a man who had everything, lost it all, and is now in the driver’s seat to gain it all back.
