When Wet Leg released their single Chaise Longue, those within musical professions knew that something special was on the horizon. Of the select few that called a spade a spade when it dropped, congratulations on being right. Because their debut album Wet Leg is everything everyone has been saying and even more than could’ve been anticipated. The only question that will be on everyone’s minds now is, will this just be a one off? Or, can they follow it up later. A question that will surely be answered in due time, but for now, Wet Lag is the hot topic.

The British just keep birthing fresh and fit talent, Wet Leg now the new kids on the block making all the noise. The indie band is a two hander, featuring only Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers as official members. These lovely ladies hail from a small English island known as the Isle of Wight, but their self-titled album is about to take the world by storm. They already have a head start, as they’ve been selling out small venues and touring ever since they began releasing music last year. Now, Wet Leg is out and putting everyone else on notice in the pop rock community.

Wet Leg uses their debut album as a joyous celebration of life, completely ignoring the state of world of the last few years and focusing more on making their music for enjoyment. This is a breath fresh air as many musicians have opted to go a more depressing route due to obvious reasons. There’s an older feeling in the way they play, their sound akin to indie bands of back in the day but with their own twist to it. There’s something undeniably ‘cool’ about their songs as the tracks are all original yet carry a quality about them that makes the album as a whole, unforgettable. The lyrics are pleasant, and the music that accompanies them is melodic and charming. There’s obvious skill in the band’s song writing and though both of them play guitar and sing, there are clearly added edits that give their debut album elegance, variety, and an added polish that allows them to stand out from others. In the entire twelve tracks, there are no weak links nor does any song feel out of place. All in all, not a bad start for a duo that’s only just arrived to the scene.

If there’s any way to start in the music industry, this is the way to do it. Wet Leg is already spreading like a virus with the band already racking up millions of views on their available music videos on YouTube, not to mention the ever growing listening count on their Spotify channel. There will definitely be a lot of expectations going forward for Wet Leg with having come out of the gate this hot. They are soon to find out the demands of the market, but with music like this, there’s probably not too much reason to worry.
