It’s the life force that keeps every living thing breathing, and the one thing humanity cannot live without: water. Water is seventy-one percent of the earth, it is home to many of the world’s living creatures, and every human being needs to drink it to survive but surprisingly, it is in short or damaged supply in some places. From multiple countries in Africa, to India, to even the United States which is supposed to be among the most developed countries in the world, people of the world are dealing with water shortage and contamination on a large scale. For a first-hand account on this topic, look no further than Brave Blue World.

Brave Blue World offers insight into solving the world’s water problems as well as what the future holds.

This new documentary gives an in depth examination of the current state of the world’s water issues, including the men and women who are lending their time and resources to help solve the problem. From creating new decontamination technology, to innovating and improving currently available tech, water recycling/reuse and even taking in water from the atmosphere, purifying it and using it, Brave Blue World offers insight into solving the world’s water problems as well as what the future holds. The documentary features a range of scientists, academics, environmentalists, and even some actors, who either offer their thoughts on the present predicaments and also, what they’ve done to be a part of the progress. In addition, all involved provide viewers solutions to assist individually in order to meet the collective efforts in insuring the use and access to clean water.

The budget for Brave Blue World is said to have been modest, in the range of four hundred thousand, but the money was put to good use. As a documentary, it is very informative and factual. As a ‘movie’, it is shot professionally with beautiful cinematography, showcasing some of the world’s most exotic locations along with presenting those taking part in a greatly edited format. Those interviewed were chosen very intelligently on the director’s part, and featuring Matt Damon and Jaden Smith is an added benefit as both actors are already heavily involved in different charities concerning water. Liam Neeson was chosen to narrate the entire thing, and his voice proves to be a powerful one in explaining all of the nuances and relevant information surrounding key points of the documentary. Packed into just under an hour, Brave Blue World is a quick watch containing a lot of important intel for audiences worldwide to digest.

Brave Blue World is on Netflix. It will show to be an essential watch for those who may be ignorant to the world’s water issues or even to those who don’t often venture outside of their bubble. It’s one of those documentaries that tells a harsh reality that is far too commonly ignored by everyone else in the world who may not have to ever deal with water pollution, contamination, or scarcity. For some, it won’t make much difference. To others, it will flip on a light switch that they never knew was off.
