House M.D. isn’t a new show. In fact, the series storyline concluded about a decade ago. To fans of the House M.D.  show, this is a hard reality to reconcile with. It cleaned up at award ceremonies, made people laugh, cry, and was home to some of the best writing that the world of TV has ever seen. This isn’t news to those who watched the show when it was presently popular, but oddly enough, there’re still millions of people who haven’t seen it. If even one person reading this is swayed to turn the TV on and give it a whirl, a mission will’ve been accomplished.

House M.D.  created by David Shore, and starring Hugh Laurie, House is based on the popular novel character Sherlock Holmes

Created by David Shore, and starring Hugh Laurie, House is based on the popular novel character Sherlock Holmes. Infectious disease Dr. Gregory House, using deductive reasoning and his cognitive ability that can almost only be described as supernatural, diagnoses cases that are nearly impossible for some of the world’s best physicians. His intellect and instincts are his strength, but his physical disability and his drug use are his weakness. Alongside him are a team of doctors of different disciplines that assist him in saving lives and solving the never ending puzzles of patients and their conditions. House is a show that has it all and more, having been performed and plotted with very little fault on anyone’s end.

The writing team of this series deserves as much praise as anyone can give. Their penmanship saw House’s character scribed as incredibly and comically quick witted, highly intelligent, and prescribed to him an understanding of the human condition that a million psychologists couldn’t hope to ascertain in a hundred lifetimes. His storyline, character development, persona, and physical traits were played out by Hugh Laurie in an acting display of which some performers won’t be able to rival for years to come. The rest of the cast who came and went as the series progressed were just as great in their respective roles, though unfortunately there’re too many to name. Lisa Edelstein and Robert Sean Leonard were sublime as ‘Cuddy’ and Wilson’, keeping House in check as both colleagues and authority figures. Omar Epps was an obvious standout as ‘Foreman’, constantly challenging House and otherwise serving as a necessary opposing force to his chaotic practices. Jesse Spencer was a clear pick to see the torch passed on as ‘Chase’, his character most in sync with how House thinks and operates. Those are just a few, but rest assured, other series regulars and guest appearances alike gave the show an outstanding boost making it worth the watch for practically every episode.

House will go down as one of the most acclaimed series to ever grace the small screen. It ended at the right time, as there was not much room to continue. Even still, it’s a series that can continuously be returned to. For interested newcomers, log on to those Prime Video accounts and prepare to be sucked into an addicting vortex of medical information and emotionally captivating entertainment.
