Celebrities have become a much larger influence on the general public with the rise of social media. It used to be that there was a mystery to who actors, musicians, and other entertainers were. Now, everyone wants to know more about them. Whether or not this ok is a topic for discussion but, that’s a much different conversation to be had. Now though, it’s easier than ever for anyone interested assuming they have a laptop or a smart phone. Some just want to hear more about their favorite entertainers’ approach to their work or the climb to their success. That’s where Off Camera with Sam Jones comes in.

Off Camera with Sam Jones shows entertainers at their most comfortable, never needing to pack peddle or explain themselves as they normally would when forced to speak with the press.

The online show is structured as an informal sit down between interviewer Sam Jones, and almost any celebrity that comes to mind. Jones asks questions, many that fans wants to hear, others interesting enough that most people probably wouldn’t even think to ask. Then, he just sits back and gives them the floor. Whoever he has on, be it actors, comedians or musicians, the guests speak unfiltered in a relaxed setting that qualifies as nothing more than an insightful conversation. Off Camera shows entertainers at their most comfortable, never needing to pack peddle or explain themselves as they normally would when forced to speak with the press.

The show’s format is a basic setup. Sam Jones and his guest sit in chairs adjacent to one another, with a black and white filter edited with occasional close-ups and mid-range shots. The show’s allure comes from seeing that these celebrities are in fact, human beings. It’s just a forum for them to sit and talk as though they were talking with anyone else. A variety of unique talent is also featured in the episodes. Veteran thespians such as Ian McShane, Andie MacDowell, and Tim Robbins have made an appearance. Comedians like Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, and Jim Jeffries have also stopped by. Prestigious directors such as Ron Howard and Todd Phillips have dropped by for a chat, and even rock star Dave Grohl took time out of his schedule for a quick talk. Whilst there they discuss their time in the industry, existing in public life, lessons they’ve learned, who else they’ve worked with, and how they’ve navigated their careers in a field that is more competitive than any other business in the world. If there’s ever already been a platform to see the more honest side of celebrities, it’s probably this one.

Celebrities, though rich and famous, are just as human as everyone else. Off Camera is a great reminder of this fact, and it serves to benefit those in the public who are guilty of dehumanizing or objectifying them even when they don’t realize that they’re doing so. It’s an authentic show with many things to take away from it. The full episodes of the show can be found at www.offcamera.com for a fee, though if snippets of the interviews sounds better, they can be found on the Off Camera YouTube channel for free.
