You’ve Just Been Flirted With

Free is always fun, especially where stand-up comedy is concerned. Dry Bar Comedy is an emerging internet sensation and they’re offering free comedy to the masses on social media every day. A company that started back in 2017 in Utah, their whole game is to get new comedians their shot and due exposure, with a format that is designed for families to enjoy together. Dry Bar’s guidelines dictate that all the comedians they bring through do clean comedy. Clean, but definitely not boring. As of late, they’ve been posting full specials to their Facebook page, and people are taking notice. Mike Paramore is one of the comedians they’ve chosen to grace audiences with, offering the full length special online right now at no charge.

You’ve Just Been Flirted With came out about two years ago, and was recently posted to Dry Bar’s page on Facebook with the session running about forty minutes.

Mike Paramore is the epitome of a giant teddy bear, though not to be confused with ‘Winnie the Pooh’ (watch the special and it will make sense). He plays himself off as very “soft” and emotional, but his comedy is not without its hard spots as well.  His special titled You’ve Just Been Flirted With came out about two years ago, and was recently posted to Dry Bar’s page on Facebook with the session running about forty minutes. In terms of his comedy, Mike Paramore is on the level.  Mike has a very warm presence on stage, and his material is easily relatable, especially to people who might be single and in the dating scene in their early to mid-thirties. Being nearly thirty-five himself, he does bits on how he feels older than he is and how dating women is difficult, as well as highlighting the differences he sees between the two sexes. Much of his comedy is also story-telling, as part of his open on the special is him talking about taking a woman on a date to McDonalds which according to him, goes terrible wrong. In addition he really keeps pace with the audience when describing his feelings towards women and the different language they feel he speaks.

He’s not at all short on laughs at his own expense as well, which is usually the trait of a solid comedian. More often than not his punchlines will usually include a jab or dig at himself, whilst also occasionally ‘taking the piss’ with his audience members, all of whom seem to be good sports and have no issue with being at the expense of the joke. Here and there, he also has the occasional crack up, appearing to really find himself funny, though it’s done so in a way that would come off as annoying. He is all the way himself and unashamedly so. His thoughts on children, and having them are equally comical. He tells of brief encounters he’s had with both his niece and nephew in a very humorous way, hence rationalizing his position for “wanting” kids but also having no real desire to birth or take care of any, that of which many adults in the room seem to share their agreement via laughs.

All in all, his set is solid. Clean comedy is not for everyone, but when it’s free it can be hard to not give it a look. Mike’s comedy was clean, no doubt, though he did playfully push boundaries in certain areas without crossing the line. The contention here is to get on Facebook, and see what’s what. Mike will likely be making the rounds again soon, as he’s on the positive end of reception. So log into that account, head over to Dry Bar, and enjoy.
